i am not a morning person. i never have been, never will be and never want to be. in all honesty, i have tried, really really tried, but my brain refuses to accept 5:30 am as a reasonable hour for mental activity. so, in an effort to prove my brain wrong, i'm going to write updates! i'll probably read this in a few hours and wonder what on earth i was doing, if i even remember writing this that is.
first off, i'm doing my first live new york city performance! i'm excited, slightly nervous, but very excited. details about the event can be found here. also, one of my "eyes with bodies" was featured this morning on cuteable. thank you Lynsey!
alright... now i'm going to hunt down some vile coffee and attempt to be productive until 4pm.

and it exists! quite exciting... for me anyway. it's strange for me to think that i haven't written anything in almost two years. my last entry was in 2006 or something (see mailelani.com archives). a million and a half things have happened since then. i moved to new york, started working as the webmaster for a public broadcasting station, and have a new domain name (courtesy of my wonderful boyfriend :). things have been odd, but things are always odd with me i suppose.
i've had this domain for almost a year. it took me months to come up with a layout that i actually liked. i've gone through dozens. literally. i'm not sure why, but for some reason, every time i would decide on a design, my mind would refuse to acknowledge that design, thus leaving me basically website-less with the exception of a photoblog.
anyway, i have been writing a lot of music recently. i went into a bit of a rut when i first moved to new york. i hardly wrote a thing. now i can't stop. i drive neighbors batty. most of my old songs are up online (click launch player to your right...), and a couple are available for download. i'm also planning on recording an ep, so check back for updates on that.
i really can't think of anything else to say. usually i'll write when i'm annoyed with something, but nothing has really annoyed me recently. i bet it's because it's the year of the rat. go chinese astrology!
